Brendan Dooley – Flute Performance and Instruction

Brendan Dooley holds the position of Principal Flute with Opera Philadelphia, and has performed as a substitute with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Philadelphia Ballet, Harrisburg Symphony, Allentown Symphony, and Princeton Symphony. Described as playing “with enormous presence” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, some of Brendan’s other accomplishments include being appointed co-Principal Flute of the Coast Guard Academy Band and winning 1st place at the Redlands Bowl Concerto Competition.
Brendan is an experienced teacher, having worked with all ages and skill levels. Brendan’s students have included beginners as young as 8, high school and university students, and adult amateurs. While at Yale, Brendan was a secondary flute instructor to undergraduate and graduate non-music majors. He has coached group ensembles in public schools in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and New Haven, and has given masterclasses at Boston College and the Boston Flute Academy.
Before moving to Philadelphia, Brendan was a Flute Fellow at The Orchestra Now.
Brendan received his Bachelor’s of music at The Curtis Institute of Music with Jeffrey Khaner, his Master’s of Music at The University of Southern California with Jim Walker, and his Master’s of Musical Arts at Yale University with Ransom Wilson.
